为什么会出现排期？
为了促进移民的多样化，美国政府每年对移民数量规定了限额，限额依据申请人的出生地国家而定。若该类移民申请的人数多于绿卡申请的名额，在一段时间内的限定名额用完后，申请人需要等待下一时段的新名额放出以后才能继续进行移民申请，这一段等待的时间就叫做“排期”。
表A和表B之间有什么区别？
表A显示的为绿卡可被签发的日期(Application Final Action Dates)，即移民排期；表B则为最早可以开始提交绿卡申请表格的日期(Dates for Filing Applications)，又称递件排期。
从2015年10月开始的2016财政年度设定“递件排期”即表B，允许美国公民及移民服务局(USCIS)提前接受部分亲属移民和职业移民的绿卡申请(I-485)，以及回美证、工卡申请。移民局将先行审批回美证以及工卡申请，待移民排期到来时再发出绿卡，使申请人大大缩短等待时间。之前只有一个排期表(表A)时，只有当排期中的日期前进到了申请人的优先日之后，申请人才可以递交绿卡申请表格，也就是移民申请的最后一步。
是否使用国务院的“可以递交申请的最早日期”,需依据移民局按年度名额的使用情况自行决定。
最新移民排期
美国国务院在昨日（6月13日）公布了7月的移民排期。各类移民排期变化如下。移民局特别强调，7月亲属移民将使用表B。
职业移民排期
7月职业移民排期表A中，EB-1排期前进了74天，来到2017年5月8日；EB-2排期前进3个月，来到2016年11月1日，EB-3的排期也前进了3个月，来到2016年1月1日。
7月职业移民排期表B中，EB-2排期前进3个月，来到2017年2月1日，EB-3前进了151天，来到2016年6月1日。
而EB-5的表A表B排期均无变化，表A排期停留在2014年10月1日，表B排期停留在2014年11月1日。

亲属移民排期
F1（公民21岁以上未婚子女类别），表A排期前进了22天，来到2012年3月8日；F2A（绿卡持有者配偶及子女类别），表A表现为无排期；F2B（绿卡持有者21岁以上未婚子女类别），表A排期前进109天，来到2013年9月1日；F3（美国公民已婚子女类别），表A排期前进76天，来到2007年3月8日；F4（成年公民兄弟姐妹类别），表A排期前进74天，来到2006年6月15日。
移民局于7月1日更新了移民排期表B，亲属移民F2A排期（绿卡持有者配偶及子女类别）再有新变动：7月F2A类别绿卡申请将无需排期，申请人可同时递交I-130和I-485表格，已递交申请的正在等待排期的申请人可尽快递交I-485表格调整身份。
表B中其余排期前进情况如下，F1（公民21岁以上未婚子女类别）排期前进31天，来到2012年11月8日；F2B（绿卡持有者21岁以上未婚子女类别）排期前进7天来到2014年8月15日；F3（美国公民已婚子女类别）排期前进17天，来到2007年9月8日；F4（成年公民兄弟姐妹类别）排期前进14天，来到2006年12月15日。
