BIOGRAPHY
Hyunjoo Ahn is an Of Counsel at Jia Law Group, where she focuses her practice on employment-based and family-based immigration matters, with particular emphasis on EB-1A Extraordinary Ability and EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW) petitions.
Hyunjoo is licensed to practice law in the State of Connecticut and in the Republic of Korea. Her dual licensure and international legal background provide her with a unique cross-border perspective in advising professionals pursuing permanent residence in the United States.
Prior to focusing on U.S. immigration law, she served as an international trade lawyer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. In that capacity, she worked on international trade and treaty matters, including issues related to the Korea–U.S. Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA). Her experience in governmental policy and international legal frameworks informs her strategic approach to employment-based immigration cases, particularly those requiring a strong showing of national importance or extraordinary ability.
Since 2016, Hyunjoo has concentrated her practice on EB-1 and NIW petitions, advising researchers, physicians, engineers, and professionals seeking permanent residence based on their expertise and potential contributions in the US. She also assists clients in family-based immigration matters, guiding them through immigrant visa petitions and adjustment of status processes.
Ms. Ahn served as one of three official reviewers of the book “평범한 직장인 미국 영주권 받기 A Practical Guide to U.S. Permanent Residency for Professionals” (2019), a publication addressing strategies for obtaining U.S. permanent residence through the National Interest Waiver pathway. Through both her legal practice and publication involvement, she is committed to helping clients present well-structured, persuasive, and strategically positioned immigration petitions.
Ms. Ahn earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law and her Master of Laws (LL.M.) from New York University School of Law. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Ewha Womans University, graduating magna cum laude.
